Relaxing at the Circus

You have always loved the circus. You walk [walk] into the huge arena [spread arms wide] and admire the long red and white stripes of the tent [sweeping motion in the air], the tall poles supporting it [outline right and left poles], and the flags that wave in the breeze [wave arms gently]. You walk up the tall steps of the bleachers [tall steps] to your seat with your friends, smelling the popcorn all the way[inhale]. First out are the elephants who trumpet loudly and you point [point] at the pink bows [draw bow] around their necks. Next out are the clowns and you wave at them [wave] and laugh [ha ha ha ha ha, hee hee hee hee hee]. They begin to juggle in partners [underhand throwing motion] so you call “hooray!” [call]. After all of the people and animals have emerged, you sit down with a contented sigh [easy sigh] and enjoy the circus.

Awaken- A life relaxation

You are asleep (lets gently let our bodies hang low towards our toes). As the sun shines through the window you begin to awaken, very slowly (bring your body back into upright position). You stretch your hands to the sky and yawn silently. You reach over to shut off your alarm clock before it rings (reach with your right hand from left to right). You sigh an open "a" vowel (from top to bottom). You are now ready to begin your prep for the day.
So you speak in the head voice this verse. "So whether you eat or drink.... or whatever you do... do it all.. for the glory of God (I Cor. 10:31)

Life Relaxation Exercise

You are bent over at your desk (slouch forward), studying very hard.  Your neck hurts, so you stretch and yawn.  Oh, look! Outside your window, the sky is cloudy (draw clouds in the sky).  Rain is falling (imitate the rain with your hands). The wind is blowing (imitate the wind).  You decide to go for a walk in the rain and pull on your yellow rain boots.  You walk outside and, SPLASH!, jump in a puddle.  Water flies everywhere (illustrate with your hands). Oh, no (calling)!!  You forgot your yellow rain boot had a hole in it.  You bend down to take it off.  But you stop and think, “Why bother? I am all wet anyway.” So you stand up and continue on your walk.

Life-Relaxation Exercise 1

You just woke up from a nice nap on a clear and warm day at the beach. You stand up, stretch your arms, and let out a sigh. You look around and notice that the beach is sparsely populated. You stand on the shore and watch the gentle waves roll (imitate waves with arms). You look down and see a beautiful seashell and bend down to pick it up. Just as you are about to pick it up, a hermit crab emerges from the shell and scurries away. Instead of continuing your hunt, you decide to go for a quick swim, but find the water to be much too cold and quickly make your way on to the beach. You notice that the lifeguards have just gone off duty. You choose to climb to the top of a nearby lifeguard chair. When you reach the top, you notice that the sun (form large circle with arms) is about to set. You stand on the chair and let out a sigh as you watch the sun set.

Life Relaxation #1

You're playing on the soccer field and you kick your favorite neon orange soccer ball too hard [kicking motion]. It goes into the woods and then splashes into the pond. [call] "Oh no!" You walk quickly to the pond [walk in place]. You see your ball floating on an island of mushy, green pond scum. It looks disgusting and smells worse, but you care so very much for your neon orange ball that you dive into the water to rescue it [downward stretch]. As you swim across the pond [swimming motion] you wave to the ducks along the way [wave with one hand]. [call] "Hello!" Oh look, on the other side there's a goose! [wave with other hand] [call] "Hello, goose!" Finally, you reach your neon orange ball, now marinated in putrid algae, and hug it close [hugging motion]. You raise your hands and rejoice [raise hands], for you have rescued your soccer ball!

Dawes Life Relaxation Exercise

It's already very late in the afternoon, and you're only just now emerging from the solitude of your log cabin to go on a springtime hike in the Blue Ridge mountains – northeast Georgia's silent woods. You first stoop down to tie your bootlaces (downward stretch). When you've finished, you slowly straighten (arms hanging, bring head up last) and reach to grab your insulated coat from the closet's uppermost shelf (stretch arms high). You wrap your body in warm layers and pull the downy hood over the crown of your head (spread and pull with arms). Leaving the cabin's oak door ajar, you slowly turn (gently turn head right, then left) to survey Georgia's sprawling forests. What cold sylvan beauty! You inhale wooden, dusky scents (three sniffs) and release a velvet sigh into the sharp evening air (easy exhalation). Just before you slip between the dark trunks, you turn and call into the cabin's open door: "Bye, mom! I love you!" (calling).
